Joseph C. Hedgecock

Founder of Servants of the Lord Ministries

1942-2021
Well done, thou good and faithful servant.

The commission God gave to Joseph many years ago was, I have children in every nation, and you have brothers and sisters, whose hearts are crying out for Me. They have sought Me for ministries, blessings, and gifts. I have given them these things and it has blessed them. But there is a part of their spirit that is never satisfied, that is reserved for a personal, intimate relationship with Me. Now their hearts are crying out to Me, just for Me. I am going to send you to them because I do not want them to take the years to get to Me that it took you because there was no one to show you how at the time.
Joseph began to suffer the effects of liver failure in early April. After only a few weeks, he passed away on Thursday, 6th May 2021 in the early morning hours. The funeral was Monday, 10th May at his home church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. His body was then laid to rest in his home community of Lawnville, Tennessee after a second funeral service for his family.
After this sad news, we received expressions of gratitude to Joseph from all around the world. These believers are indebted to him for the sacrifices he made. Over the years, Joseph reached countless people and gave them the tools they needed to know God personally.
On his first trip to Europe, he reached out to sixteen countries and had divine appointments with the leaders of some of the largest Spirit filled churches. On subsequent trips, he met many believers, and the Servants of the Ministries began to grow. In line with the Lord’s commission, he wrote thirteen books. In each one, the Lord told him to give clear, simple instructions so that even a newly born again child of God could read it up and understand the truth.
Joseph believed in reaching the person with the least education and making the truth simple enough for everyone to understand. He testified that his messages were well received. He also found that those with a natural education and a confidence in the flesh were a bit more stubborn. However, he never gave up.
Joseph’s life glorified the Lord because he followed God’s calling and was obedient to the commission given to him. He went where the Lord told him to go and ministered to those the Lord sent to him. His hope was unfading. He helped people everywhere to know God. He believed the best way to help someone was to connect them to God and that the Father would sort out all their opinions and differences. All he ever wanted was to help people develop their love relationship with the Lord.
When he was not travelling, his focus was a smaller team of people who were willing to be trained so they could reach out to their own friends, family, and nation. During his busy trips around the world, he often travelled with someone who he believed could reach their own nation with the same message. He invested his life in many and had no doubt that the seed he planted would make a difference because he received it from the Lord.
Joseph was a wonderful example of someone who enjoyed the peace of God and the joy of the Lord at all times. He finished his race and fulfilled his calling in the body of Christ right up until the end of his life. He taught in his home on Saturday nights and with help from his family, recorded messages for the online International Conference in 2020.
Joseph expressed God’s love to everyone. He opened his heart in every situation, especially to those who were fighting against God. He did not believe anyone’s bad choices could keep them from receiving the truth he shared and believed their repentance was possible. He was a great example of the ministry of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:18-20 says, And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
Joseph’s motive was never to impress or gain man’s approval! Love was his only motive. This was the pure foundation of everything he did in his life and ministry. He was a wonderful example of a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Joseph will live on in our memories. His books will help us apply what we have already received through his messages! You may regret not having spent more time with him on his many trips. However, his focus in all his conversations always came back to the shortcomings of our relationships with the Lord. This showed his love and commitment to the Lord to help us all. If we are to celebrate his life, then Joseph would want it to be in a way that resulted in a commitment to remove any remaining hindrances that separate us from our loving Heavenly Father so that we can finish our race of faith!
